The physicians and staff at Pediatric Surgical Associates, LTD. realize that children have unique and special needs. Because we take care of children only, we have a distinct advantage of maintaining a focus on children's particular problems. Our doctors are Board Certified Pediatric Surgeons & Board Certified Pediatric Urologists who continually strive to deliver the most current and technologically advanced medical care.

There is more to consider than just the technical ability and knowledge of your child's specialist. Particularly when dealing with children, you want to know that you have chosen a doctor who can ease your child's mind - a doctor with whom you child can be comfortable and trusting.

As physicians, we believe it is essential to build a relationship with each family. It is important to relate to children as children. We know an understanding approach helps to calm fears.

As Board Certified Pediatric Surgeons we operate on children whose development ranges from the newborn stage through the teenage years. In addition to completing training and achieving board certification in general surgery, pediatric surgeons complete two additional years of training exclusively in children's surgery. They then receive special certification in the subspecialty of pediatric surgery. Pediatric surgeons are primarily concerned with the diagnosis, preoperative, operative and postoperative care of surgical problems in children.

As Board Certified Pediatric Urologists, we deal with developmental or congenital conditions of the genitalia, kidneys or bladder. Board certified urologists must meet stringent educational, practice and peer review requirements, including a minimum of 5 years of clinical training. Twelve months of the residency must be spent in general surgery, urology or other clinical rotation relevant to urology. The final three years of training must be spent in urology with the last year as a chief resident in urology.

Because we are very specialized, we have been able to develop a high level of expertise in dealing with unusual abnormalities, as well as more common problems. We deal with a wide variety of abnormalities, including:

  • Hernias
  • Urinary tract infections and obstructions
  • Hydroneprosis
  • Neurogenic bladder
  • Voiding abnormalities
  • Urinary stone disease
  • Enuresis
  • Congenital anomalies of the genito-urinary system
  • Intersex
  • Urinary reflux
  • Undescended testicles
  • Hypospadias
